Enough by Helen Roseveare

In a world that screams, “Get all you can!”, we have forgotten how to be satisfied. The more junk and stuff we accumulate, the more we realize it does not satisfy. It is not enough. We are trying to fill a void with the wrong thing. The void can only be filled by a restored relationship with the God who made us and provided a way for us to be reconciled to Him. Helen Roseveare goes beyond this to say He is enough for all life situations.

This book is short but dynamic. In this book, Helen Roseveare reminds us that God’s grace is enough to carry us through this life and safely bring us home. Far from the health, wealth and prosperity teaching that has bought into the materialism that has consumed our culture, the teaching found here reminds us that we are being conformed to the image of Christ through our sufferings. And God is with us showering us with His grace every step of the way. It is enough to satisfy our needs.

I would highly recommend this book. New believers will have their eyes opened and be prepared for the trials that they will encounter. Seasoned saints will be reminded of God’s care for His children as their hearts resonate with Dr. Roseveare.  Another refreshing aspect of this book is the honesty of the author with her own struggles. I also enjoyed the way she ended each chapter with an appropriate hymn. Topics covered in this book include the following : salvation, assurance, emotional support, pleasing God, happiness, contentment and finding our sufficiency in God. This would be a great book to buy multiple copies and hand out to people who need encouragement.
