“What is it about Romans that has proved so life-changing and history-shaping? It is because Romans is about the gospel. Paul was writing to the church in Rome in about AD57 because he wanted them first to understand the gospel, and then to experience the gospel-to know its glorious release.” (From the Introduction page 9)
Romans is a book rich in theology. Each time I read or study through it, I am blessed in new and wonderful ways. When I saw that this book was coming out, I knew I wanted to read it. So I paired it with my devotional bible reading and have found it to be an indispensable guide. This book is not a commentary but rather a devotional guide. Tim Keller once again proves to be a warm and insightful writer. He handles the text with the skill of a scholar and the care of a pastor. I have read many commentaries on Romans and God used this little book as much as any of them to teach me his truths in a deeper way. Keller engages the important doctrinal truths of Romans and explains them in ways that the reader can easily grasp. These truths are foundational to one’s understanding of the gospel. Keller knows this and puts the cookies on the bottom shelf without compromising the integrity of the message.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it to anyone who wants to understand this great epistle. Thank you Tim Keller and The Good Book Company for this valued addition to aid the church in its edification.
